Experience the magic of MAAM outdoors during Art on the Plaza, our annual midsummer series featuring live performances, creative activities, cool treats, and refreshing mocktails.Free fun for the whole family! 

On Thursday, July 23, embrace your inner artist with hands-on artmaking and live music and grooves featuring Lee Wilson. With all materials and inspiration provided, let your creativity flow:

  • Live Music / Tune in to the irresistible house music of Lee Wilson! Backed by his DJ and live band, Wilson brings refreshing beats and a blend of R&B and pop music to the MAAM dancefloor.
  • Watercolors / Experiment with the magic of powdered watercolor pigments to create an abstract painting of your own. 
  • Block Printing / Create a block stamp print inspired by the uniqueness of your own neighborhood. 
  • Gelli-Plate Printing / Make a one-of-a-kind Gelli-plate print using natural materials foraged from the Fenway’s vibrant greenspaces.   
  • Refreshments / Cool down with a free frozen treat or refreshing mocktail 

Featuring 

House Sessions with Lee Wilson bring the energy of an intimate house music club into unexpected spaces, blending world-class dance music with the excitement of a live performance. Backed by his DJ and live band, Wilson transforms every show into an interactive celebration where soulful vocals, infectious grooves, and audience connection take center stage. Whether you're dancing, singing along, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, every House Session is designed to bring people together through music.

ABOUT THE VENUE

Art on the Plaza will occur on the Museum’s Arne Glimcher Plaza located outside, directly in front of the Museum. The Plaza is fully accessible, paved, and accessed from public sidewalks with curb cuts. The Museum’s lobby, studio, and restrooms (with changing stations) will be accessible during this event, however the exhibition galleries will not be open. 

 

Getting Here / Transportation

MAAM is located on the MassArt campus at 621 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA with multiple public transportation options in the immediate vicinity. Please see our Visit page for more information about getting to MAAM.

 

Going, Going, Gone / Ticketing Notice

This event is free with advance registration. MAAM may accommodate unregistered walk-up guests on the evening of this event only as capacity allows; walk-up tickets on the evening of the event are not guaranteed. Evening events often sell out; plan ahead and register in advance. 

 

Rain Rain, Go Away / Weather Notice

Sometimes the best laid plans are no match for mother nature. In the event of heavy rain, excessive heat, or inclement weather, this event will be cancelled by 12:00pm on the day of the event. Events may be rescheduled or relocated indoors only as availability allows. Be on the lookout for an email communication from MAAM.
