Experience the magic of MAAM outdoors during Art on the Plaza, our annual midsummer series featuring live performances, creative activities, and cool treats on select evenings–free fun for the whole family!
On August 20, A Trike Called Funk–Boston’s favorite pop-up party on wheels–returns to the Plaza, pulling up with an interactive mix of movement and music, curated activations, and fun summer vibes.
Featuring
A Trike Called Funk is a Boston-based creative venture co-founded in July 2021 by MC & Dance Lead Aaron Myers and DJ Edward Galan, whose community-based activations feature music genres & dance forms spanning the African Diaspora in the Americas–from Funk to Hip Hop and Salsa to Samba.

ABOUT THE VENUE
Art on the Plaza will occur on the Museum’s Arne Glimcher Plaza located outside, directly in front of the Museum. The Plaza is fully accessible, paved, and accessed from public sidewalks with curb cuts. The Museum’s lobby, studio, and restrooms (with changing stations) will be accessible during this event, however the exhibition galleries will not be open.
Getting Here / Transportation
MAAM is located on the MassArt campus at 621 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA with multiple public transportation options in the immediate vicinity. Please see our Visit page for more information about getting to MAAM.
Going, Going, Gone / Ticketing Notice
This event is free with advance registration. MAAM may accommodate unregistered walk-up guests on the evening of this event only as capacity allows; walk-up tickets on the evening of the event are not guaranteed. Evening events often sell out; plan ahead and register in advance.
Rain Rain, Go Away / Weather Notice
Sometimes the best laid plans are no match for mother nature. In the event of heavy rain, excessive heat, or inclement weather, this event will be cancelled by 12:00pm on the day of the event. Events may be rescheduled or relocated indoors only as availability allows. Be on the lookout for an email communication from MAAM.
