Explore the outdoors with friends and MAAM staff as you gather natural materials to experiment with eco-printing!

Let’s take a stroll! Bring a friend (or make a new one) as you join MAAM staff for a walk through our neighborhood’s urban landscape! Explore the Fenway’s iconic Fenway Victory Gardens and The Emerald Necklace to learn about the variety of plants and flowers that grow in the heart of the Fens.

During the workshop, learn about sustainable foraging in public parks and gather natural materials along the way. Then, head back to MAAM to create a reusable eco-print tote of your own!

What is eco-printing?

Eco-printing is a sustainable natural dyeing technique that transfers the pigments, shapes, and intricate details of leaves, flowers, and plant materials directly onto fabric or paper.

Know Before You Go / Event Details

This event will occur mostly outdoors and will involve walking or rolling to the nearby greenspaces in the Fenway/Mission Hill neighborhood within a 10 minute walk (.5 mile radius) from MAAM.

This event will start and end at MassArt Art Museum (MAAM), located at 621 Huntington Avenue. Restrooms, water, and locker storage will be available upon check-in, however the exhibition galleries will not be open. After check-in at MAAM, we will head outside.

We recommend wearing comfy shoes and clothing appropriate for hands-on artmaking with natural (and sometimes messy) materials.
