Looking at any object up close helps to not only reveal its details, but also creates interesting abstract compositions. In this Drawing Together we observe "macro views" of various objects and draw them.

Instructions

Step One

Choose an object to observe and look at the fine details.

Step Two

Think about your drawing: what will you focus on and what will you leave out? Try not to think about the object or its purpose. Instead, pay attention to the negative spaces in between the different forms.

Step Three

Start sketching in with a pencil. Add shading and color if you'd like.

Notice how looking closely changes how you see what’s before you, what do you observe now that you hadn’t seen before?

Remember to share your creations with us and each other by tagging @maamboston or #MAAMDrawingTogether on social media.
