This summer, gather on the Arne Glimcher Plaza at MAAM for Art on the Plaza, a new series featuring artmaking and fun for all ages! The Plaza will come to life with outdoor activities and music for our neighbors in Fenway, Mission Hill, Roxbury, and beyond. All are welcome!

On Saturday June 18, in celebration of Juneteenth, join us as we raise up individuals, like Elizabeth “Mumbet” Freeman, who took a stand for justice and liberation.  Create a kite that honors a changemaker making a difference in the world today then fly your kite high for all to see.

While you’re here, check out our current exhibitions Joana Vasconcelos: Valkyrie Mumbet and Designing Motherhood: Things That Make and Break Our Births and enjoy drop-in activities in the Barkan Family Big Ideas Studio.

Free with registration

Kite kits will be available for the first 200 registered participants; limit one kite per participant. In the event of inclement weather, kite-making will move inside the museum.
